Today's the day ..................... for the last page

Everybody will probably get a calendar at some point over the Christmas period - but let's face it - there's calendars and there's ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT calendars.

I was given the 2014 Scotland by Rail calendar last year by good friends Roma and John and it comes into the absolutely brilliant category. At the start of every month it has been a joy to turn over the page and see what is the chosen poster.

But now we have come to the last page - and what a cracker that is. It's the only poster in the calendar to showcase not a rail destination but an actual train - The Queen of Scots - speeding down a tartan track on its run between London and Glasgow. The original poster was the work of Reginald Mayes.

The prospect of the year 2015 - with no more pages to turn - fills me with dismay ......................
