Harry Rye

I didn't know much about Harry Rye other than he was homeless and lived in a former stable at my Grandparents house. I now know that he was born in 1871, was married, had two children, fought in the first world war (he must have been one of the older recruits) and died in 1951. It must have been freezing in that stable.....I'm sure my Granny looked after him - she used to invite POW's to Sunday lunch. Someone cared enough to make a Celtic Cross as a gravemarker.....I hope he knew that someone cared.
