Ablutions
Caught a poaka (pied stilt) doing his ablutions today in the channel that leads to the estuary. Overcast sky, calm and the tide just turning. The closest I have managed to get to one he dunked himself, cleaned his toes then scratched under his chin.
A different story around the track further where they are nesting. There were several flying at me as I walked along. What a racket. They fly at you but veer off well ahead. I didn't feel threatened but I didn't get a flying shot either.
