The Mill Road Mural

You know when construction workers put hoardings round a construction site and spend days and days painting it instead of getting on with constructing?

Well, this construction site has no constructing going on, so Cambridge City Council, local artists and local community groups designed and painted a mural on it, forming the largest public art project in Cambridge.

It expresses the right of the local community to have their say in local matters. This is particularly relevant to Mill Road. It is a residential street and it is a commercial street. The shops and cafés are diverse and independent — at least they were until some of the supermarkets muscled their way in, against popular opinion.
