Casualty

When I drove in through our gate this afternoon, the first thing I noticed was a birds nest on the grass. It had obviously blown down from the large tree on our front lawn. The next thing I saw was the cat , very proudly carrying a baby bird in his mouth looking very pleased with such easy prey. A little while later, I noticed another fledgling Thrush trying to hop across the lawn sounding very distressed.
I took a few photos of him, then put him in a safer place under some foliage. I hope his mum finds him...she has been flying near where he is but she probably won't and after all her hard work of incubating the eggs, and nurturing her babies they will become just more Spring casualties.
