Eight Bit Heaven.

My first game of Asteroids since 1979, at the National Museum of Scotland's Games Masters exhibition - charting the development of computer games from the Golden age of arcade video classics, right up to twenty-first century games consoles and online virtual realities.

Designed by Lyle Rains and Ed Logg and released by Atari in November 1979, Asteroids used vector graphics in a 'wraparound' games space to simulate an asteroid fields where the play must defend himself in real time against flying rocks and attacking flying saucers whilst also being aware of Newton's Third law of Motion when manuevering the arrowhead ship around the environment.

Outwardly simple, tricky, and very addictive!
