Mmmmm...

Comida corrida is a common way of eating here in Oaxaca. It means a set menu at a set price, and is usually served from noon or so to 4 or 5 p.m. Many people eat this as their big meal of the day and then have soup or something small at night. Often it's quite cheap - 35 to 60 pesos ($2.75 to $4.75 US) and is a full meal with drink and dessert.
Today we were invited to comida corrida in a very nice restaurant that serves delicious and artfully prepared food. This salad had many kinds of dried fruit, and the lacy one on top is tangy dried pineapple.
The red drink is called jamaica and is made with a type of hibiscus flower. I buy these dried flowers by the kilo and prepare the juice, which can be tart or sweet, depending on the amount of sugar you like. I like it tart, and I also like to mix it with carbonated water.

We are going to the mountains for a couple of days, so will be computerless and blipless. Everyone have a good weekend!
