And it did not get much better...

A wander out to view the pitch before Saturday's game against Motherwell did not go particularly well.

'Suppose it kind of symbolised the afternoon really, with Hearts not performing well and losing 3-1.

The Fir Park pitch was getting watered but perhaps the sprinkler controller did not realise there was a group of visiting players just sampling the surface ahead of the team talk.

He got them alright.

Alas, so did Motherwell but an hour or so later...
