The Christmas Tree!

We decided against orienteering today in favour of a lazy day to offset the business of the last few weekends. I had my breakfast in bed and finished the excellent book 'The Shock of the Fall' - five stars! We then headed out to the alternative garden centre (we have three within a couple of miles of our village) to choose our Christmas tree, which this year is small but still very special as Christmas is going to be very special but very different this year! I love getting the decorations down from the loft and remembering them all over again. Sadly my mother's homemade Father Christmas (with a head made out of a dried, wizened apple) has finally bit the dust this year and won't be coming out but those hand sewn felt ones from the girls when they were very small are proudly on the tree together with their assortment of baubles and penguins and santas and stars (it was a ritual when they were children to go to the garden centre and buy a new decoration each). It's very chilly out so lovely to be tucked up in the warm with Johnnie Walker playing his sounds of the 70s on the radio and the smell of the tree gently permeating the room. Bliss!
