Church of St Mary Magdalene

The church of St Mary Magdalene, East Moors, near Helmsley, North Yorkshire.

This tiny church on the North York Moors, four and a half miles north of Helmsley, was built to serve the dispersed farming community.

The area is now sparsely populated but the church is still well cared-for and fills to capacity for its occasional services (Christmas, Easter, Ascension, patronal festival, harvest).

It was built under the supervision of the notable Victorian Architect George Gilbert Scott by Temple Lushington Moore in 1882.
