Exploring Paddington

Up at silly o’clock this morning to go up to that old London Town to go on the trail of a little Peruvian bear, yes good old Paddington Bear. Scattered across London are 50 replicas of Paddington in various designs, designs by celebrities such as Doctor Who Peter Capaldi, Lord Andrew Lloyd-Webber and many, many others. I’d planned the trail yesterday and that preparation paid off as we quickly started to tick off a number of bears on the trail, thirteen in total. The hardest ones to find were in Covent Garden, mainly because we got distracted by various other things happening around the place at the time. I think my personal favourite out of all the ones we saw is this one Paddington the Explorer in Piccadilly Circus.

We did so well in tracking them all down that we had time to visit Fortnum and Mason, have a wander around and enjoy a cuppa with some cake. And because we had to wait a little bit for a table they gave us a free little ice-cream, their Christmas Pudding special and it was fantastic, with a kick of brandy in it. Lush!

In the afternoon and as we were in the West End I had booked tickets to see The Commitments, and what a great decision that was. It was absolutely amazing! Great fun, great songs and of course by the end the whole theatre was up on its feet and dancing. Well worth seeing if you can get tickets, trust me.

The only downside of the day was the train journey; it was 50 minutes late getting into Paddington and then 30 minutes late on the way home. Nightmare!

It didn’t spoil the day though, because it was just bloody awesome!
