light and water

I was down at Port Glasgow today and went a wee jolly along the walkway on the Clyde. The sky was in turmoil. Snow dusted the far hills. The water was a very high tide and ink black. Up the firth, from the tail o' the bank came rain, hail but still no snow on the low ground.

The sun struggled through the moisture in the air. Clouds bruising together, curtains of rain falling, a wee gap where the light struggled through to the opposite side of the river.

I tried to outrun a soaking coming my way up the firth but no luck. I dallied too long trying to get a perfect shot of eider ducks bobbing on the turbulent water and a cormorant perched on one of the old timber pond sticks. Didn't manage it and gave up as the first ice pellets found me.

Still, it was stirring watch the light dance with the water of the river, the water in the air. And there's nothing better than arriving to a hot house with numb hands and feet.
