Alster Christmas Tree

(backblip)
Hamburg

We had a relaxing morning before catching a series of rains to Buxtehude to explore the old town and the Christmas market. After yet more sausages washed down with gluwein and hot apfelpunsch, followed by schmalzkuchen we went back to Hamburg via the Christmas market which runs alongside the small Alster lake. We managed to emerge from the train station just as a Christmas parade was going past, we got covered in fake snow and weaved our way through the crowds to the market. It was freezing so we had a feuerzangenbowle to keep warm and went back to Sarah and Wendell's flat. We had some lovely Vietnamese food for tea and the boys managed to fit in two waffles from the market closest to the flat! Unbelievable given everything we had eaten all day! This holiday has been all about food and I think by the end of it I will no longer need a belt for my trousers.
