Wattle Seeds

When I found some seed pods on a wattle tree today I decided to get the macro lens out and have a closer look. The seeds are a really beautiful rich black and actually look like they should be delicious. The pods are also fantastically hairy and curled into weird shapes that reminded me of different body parts. This is an ancient tree of the Acacia family and very unusual.

The seed of the wattle tree is edible. Crops are now being commercially grown and marketed as bush tucker. They have a lovely coffee/chocolate flavour when roasted and make a delicious hot drink, and lots of other yummy things. If you ever see it in a shop try it, you wont be disappointed! :)
