Lake Titicaca

Lake Titicaca is the highest navigable lake it the world, and by volume is the largest lake in South America. It sits on the border between Peru and Bolivia, and is home to the floating Uros islands. The islands are man made using reeds found in the shallower parts of the lake. The islanders make a whole range of artisan goods, but also put on daily tours for the vast number of tourists who flock to see them.
After visiting a couple of these islands, we headed for the actual island of Taquile, where a lunch of trout and chips awaited us. The island almost felt Mediterranean because of the colours in the surroundings, but due to the altitude, it was somewhat cooler!
