Xmas carrot

Today we got up at silly o'clock and took the train up to London to take the Eurostar to Paris for a long weekend. We made it to London without incident and through the tube to St Pancras Station - where I took a few pictures. We then took our Eurostar to Gare Du Nord station, and finally a very crowded bus to my mother-in-law's flat. After a short rest we set off to explore various shops and see the Christmas lights. We spent many an hour window shopping and wandering about Paris.

Today's back blip is the giant upside down Christmas tree that is centre stage at Galeries Lafayette's Paris Haussmann store. It's gigantic and most impressive but what strikes you most, standing underneath it with everyone else, is that it looks like a giant bejewelled carrot - which is exactly what a small girl standing next to me said to her mother!

Both this store and it's equally expensive neighbour had most impressive window displays - well worth the effort to see if you are in Paris. We didn't spend much money today but we did find a very nice caramel and a spéculoos flavoured éclairs in Monoprix that we did try...
