Rain, wind and no sun!!!!

The sun doesn't always shine on our walks!!!! And it certainly didn't today. The weather forecast was abysmal, but we had our pre-Christmas walk and dinner all planned and nothing was going to stop us.

We started off with coffee and scones (as you do!!!) at Bruston Castle Golf Club, and then started our walk in the rain with lots of mud to keep us on our toes, or sometimes on our bottoms. Found a barn where we had lunch, our lunch consisting of Christmas pies ( still hot as they wer well wrapped in foil and newspaper) and Mulled Wine, which had been brought in flasks.

Suitabliy 'refreshed' we continued on our way still in the rain, and when we finished our walk we all changed into our party gear and the coach took us to Souter Johnnies, a lovely wee pub/restaurant in Kirkoswald. There we had a really good meal, I had soup with home made bread, then salmon, bashed potatoes and a selection of veggies, then home made Lemon Meringue Pie, with ice cream and fresh cream; I only hope they had removed the calories before serving it, as it was a big portion, and tasted divine!. Coffee followed and our happy band headed home, with lots of good wishes for the season of goodwill.

What a day!
