Lighting Up

My grandson helped me with hanging the lights in the front pear tree--it is so much easier with a six-footer around! The little tree suffered badly from fireblight this year and has a somewhat lop-sided structure from all the pruning of diseased wood. Most of the growth is new and thin without a lot of spurs to hold the lights in place, but we managed to get it pretty well covered anyway. The reddish light spot at the foot of the tree is a rose in full bloom, which speaks to the very strange weather we've had this year. They say Thursday will bring four inches of rain. Water restrictions have been lifted for the community, although voluntary conservation is still encouraged.
