Graduation Day

Yesterday I was privileged to attend the graduation ceremony at the University of Manchester of my good friend's younger daughter. Here they are together after her confirmation as a graduate.

The lady on the left is my former boss from the days when we served together as soldiers in Bosnia-Herzegovina. She was my battalion commander and I was her Operations NCO. Fifteen years later, despite the rank and cultural gulfs, we are still in touch.

I remember her daughter as a wee girl in Virginia who was very into The Princess Diaries. Where has the time gone?
