Solid Concrete Progress

Yesterday I showed a picture of the one and a half metre deep hole that had been dug down between two very solid brick piers, that had been there for over two hundred years, to form the foundation trench for the back wall of the kitchen. Today’s picture is of the concrete infill, just over a metre deep, three metres long and 30mm wide (some two plus tonnes of concrete). This concrete is joined into the brick piers and is very unlikely to move, particularly as the wall that it will be supporting will only weigh a small fraction of this; thermalite blocks do not weight much! Progress with this installation will not progress further now until next week, giving the concrete plenty of time to adequately harden.
