Frilly iris

We were at Orari Estate today, near Geraldine in inland Canterbury to photograph the Himalayan lilies. They were barely in flower, so not easy to get good shots of them. However, I will be interested to see whether other members of our photo club were more successful.

Actually I am ambivolent about these lilies, as they have a tendency to become weedy in parts of the North Island, and it could happen here.

Anyway, I failed to get much that I was happy with today, even though it was a most enjoyable day and good to catch up with people. Here is a frilly iris that I snapped in passing.

We were entertained by a resident mute swan, but none of my pictures did justice to this stately bird.
