Lunch With Friends

Peter, Freda, Sally (reading from L to R) and I met up today. We're all in the same year group on the Equipping for Ministry course, and it's good to keep in touch in between the times we're at Woodbrooke together.

We started off at Friends House. Unfortunately the Quaker Centre was closed for refurbishments, so we weren't able to eat there, but we had a look at the newly-refurbished Large Meeting Room and were duly impressed.

Then we went along the road to an Italian restaurant for something to eat. And we talked. About (in no particular order): the courses we've been on, and the ones we're planning to take over the next year; the books we've been reading; the Anselm Kiefer exhibition at the Royal Academy; the William Blake exhibition at the Ashmolean Museum; therapeutic communities for young offenders; icons and a visit by Freda to a Serbian Orthodox church; psychosynthesis; the gospels of John and Paul and how their message has often been lost in translation; the role of women in the early church compared to today.

What a rich conversation to share with such lovely and thoughtful Ffriends! I'm surprised any of us had time to clean our plates as well!
