On the Edge

SUNDAY

I was up at stupid o'clock this morning to take Harriet and her friend Dudley to Manchester Airport so they could catch the early morning flight to Dublin for a few days away.

It was far too early to hang around waiting for the Trafford Centre to open so I decided to travel back via Hollingworth Lake. But it was far too dark on the Dark Side to get anything like a decent blip.

The route home took me near to Blackstone Edge (1549 ft) which is a bleak rocky outcrop on the boundary with God's own county.

It was wet, cold and windy with pockets of snow on the tops. Here I am, just before dawn, living dangerously on the wrong side of the border (complete with a lump of snow).

Now back safely. Christmas tree now installed and ready to decorate.
