Charles Darwin

I went to Shrewsbury to do some Christmas shopping today. F gave me a lift to the bus stop (hooray for the bus pass). As soon as his car had gone round the corner I realised that I'd left my keys in the house. A neighbour keeps a spare and luckily was at home when I returned!

I got the shopping done and passed Shrewsbury Library on my way to the bus station.
This is Charles Darwin's statue, he sits outside the library which housed Shrewsbury School from 1550. Darwin hailed from the town and attended the school as a boy. The Tudor character carvings which are flanking him date from when the building was renovated in the 1980's.
