Another day, another unsuccessful gull chase

I tried to find the Ivory Gull again. My theory was that as it was heading north when last seen, it might end up on the next beach north - Baleshare. There is even a seal carcase there waiting for it....
Plenty of birds there in pretty filthy conditions but no Ivory Gull. What a surprise. The weather was such that the birds that were there kept low and this Ringed Plover made itself very easy to photo. A classic shot of this species that looks like it is on its nest but it was just trying to hide behind the pebbles. It always amazes me how well such a clearly marked bird can be camouflaged on the shingle.
We then had some neighbours round for a curry and had a really pleasant evening although suspect I might regret some of the wine in the morning.
