Pied-billed Grebe

A small diving bird with a chicken-like bill, the Pied-billed Grebe is common on lakes and ponds across North America. It is rarely seen flying and prefers to sink out of sight when danger threatens. I really didn't know whether to post the Momma heron and chick, (too far away), the juvenile White Ibis, (a bit dull), or this little grebe on the funky water. Two frames earlier the water was a clear blue, but thanks to some show-offs in a speed-boat, who seemed to think that I might need photographs of them water-skiing, the wash suddenly showed reflections from the trees on shore, making these weird patterns.
A double whammy; the water-skier did a face plant and had to be taken home to his Mummy.
