Blipping Along

The Wait is Over....

The minute shrimps, known locally as bubok, have finally arrived in quantity.

The sea was a hive of activity with fishing boats out on the water, darting everywhere. And this lady, and many others like her (equal numbers of men and women), were trawling for bubok in the shallows, with their large triangular net - they push the net along the seabed, emptying the net on a regular basis into the basket on their back. Its hard work but well rewarded financially.

The shrimps are dried and made into a spicy condiment, blachan, found in most Malaysian households. Its certainly an acquired taste!

Anyway, it was a lovely walk, watching all the colourful action, and the first morning with blue sky.
