man on the horse

Had a rare trip into Wolverhampton town today. I don't go very often because a) i've never got enough money to spend, and b) i can't be doing with dodging all the people, traffic and noise of it all.

In the centre of town known as Queens Square, there is a statue of Prince Albert sitting on his horse, if ever you agree to meet up with people in town the usual place is "by the bloke on the 'os" - lovely accent we have in the blackcountry!!

Today it seems someone has had a bit of a lark and stuck a traffic cone on his head! it certainly gave everyone a smile who was walking past anyway.

For those of you not from our waters Prince Albert was Queen Victoria's husband, she was Queen from 1837 - 1901, being the longest reigning British monarch of 64 years.

The statue was unveiled in 1866 when Queen Victoria visited the town on her first public appearance since Alberts death in 1861.

Victoria's famous saying is 'one is not amused' - I certainly don't think she would be if she saw her beloved Albert today!!
