Water, again

This is (again) not a real stream, our neighbour Antonio dug out a channel for all the water from the rainfall we've had to run down. It hasn't rained (properly) for about 2 weeks now, but it's still pouring down the channel, to the river at the bottom. It goes right through the middle of where I want my veg garden, and I have to step over it to hang my washing too. I wonder how long it will be before it stops?
