Capitelle

The hills around Faugères, just north of us, are dotted with these small stone shepherds' and goatherds' huts, called capitelles. They are the hill equivalent of the mazets we have at this lower level. This capitelle has been restored and is conveniently close to the cave cooperative where we stopped to buy some wine this morning, on our way back from shopping in Bédarieux.

From Faugères we could see the Pyrenees, 150 kilometres away and topped with snow, and Mont Canigou looking huge, as it always does when it's not obscured by cloud. And down in the valley near Bédarieux the trees in the peach orchards were in flower. So it was a very picturesque trip and it was hard to choose one image to blip. I may put some of the others on my blog later.
