Comfort Eating

What comfort is there for a lady of a certain age when it has been raining non stop for 36 hours, with gale force winds threatening the very structure of the castle and making any wandering outside with the camera completely out of the question?

The answer is an outing to the local garden centre, not for potting compost or flowering annuals, but to sample their delicious cakes with no thought of the consequences. This is what is known in the trade as 'comfort eating'.
It's all very admirable to chew on a lettuce leaf with a helping of vegetables if you are sitting under a blue sky and a smiley sun, but when it's cold, wet and miserable why not feel justified in having a piece of banoffee tart and carrot cake.

We got to see our Home Report today.
It's hardly a wonderful experience to see your dearly loved family home reduced to a list of external and internal components, and detailing such trivia as chipped paint and a drip from the guttering. But all in all it could have been much worse considering it's 150 years old, and had a succession of child oriented families dwelling within its walls.

We just hope that someone out there falls in love with it as we did thirty years ago and see beyond the nitty gritty of a drip and a chip.
