Golden Bay is one of those places in NZ that can be as close to paradise as you get. It's also a bit weird at times and not immune to the human touch.

This is in the marina just past Pohara, just down the way from what is said to be Jacques Cousteau's first boat, the name of which escapes me....

The guy who owns the boat serves coffee and tried to convince me the jet trails we could see overhead were a spray programme organised by Bill Gates and Monsanto to keep down the radical element...
