Two Orang Ulu Ladies

I flew home today from Bario which is on the Malaysian/Indonesian border and the minute airport was chaotic as they were welcoming some VIPs. To give you an idea of how small the airport is, the computer only works when its sunny because it runs off solar power!

Anyway these two elegant local ladies were dressed in their finery to greet the VIPs: note the long ears on the woman on the left - they start wearing earing from a young age and over the years they wear weighter earings, pulling the lobes down - its one way of having a face life! Sadly, you don't find the younger girls doing this any more, and some of the older women cut off their dangling lobes.
