Gillipaw's Journal

Whatever the Weather

I wonder if the weather was playing an April Fool on us today. Bright sunshine, pouring rain, bright sunshine, hailstones, bright sunshine, snow ...... whatever. It made me think of Euber's journal title "Wet Dry Sunny Rainy". Scotland can get every kind of weather in a day.

And as for April Fools, a teacher friend of mine said he was completely taken in by one of his pupils, who announced just before the 12 noon bell to bring on the holidays, that she wasn't in fact who he thought she was. She and her identical twin sister had swopped places in their classes this morning, and none of the staff had guessed. I wonder if they will get away with that at exam time!

Tonight #2 son is "child sitting" for our neighbours. About an hour ago he rang to say help was needed as there was a magpie flying around the living room. I dismissed it as an April Fool, even though it was after 12 noon. However, a second call a few minutes later confirmed the truth that their cat had brought in a magpie through the cat flap, and come right through the house to present its prize. The poor thing was stunned and very scared. A managed to catch it and get it out through a window.

Off to see if the BBC are April Fooling us all, putting on the new series of "Have I got News for You" on a Thursday. What - it has forever been on a Friday!
