Orange on a grey day

The "fruiting bodies" (spore-producing parts) of the crust-like lichen Caloplaca flavorubescens are pretty colourful. Just what you need on a cloudy day.

The reddish stuff in the margins of the shot is the bark-living green algae Trentepohlia. Its red colour comes from the carotenoids in the cells.
