The man of the Numbers

In China numbers are important, they have so many hidden meanings and, willing or not, subtly influence everyday life and choices.

It's all about good or bad fortune, wealth, riches, or long life and Chinese are superstitious and numbers are connected to their fate and future.

For some numbers it's about the pronunciation that might resemble bad or unlucky meanings like the infamous number 4 whose sound is similar to the word "death": no wonder #4 always disappear from everybody's life: no storey no. 4 in many buildings, no number 4 in addresses or telephone numbers.

For other it is the shape that counts like the number 8 which is the luckiest number of all as it puts together the "round shape" that is the perfect shape for Chinese as it means perfection and continuity and number 8 has 2 round shapes, you can imagine how precious and lucky it is.
No wonder buildings fight to have 8, double or triple 8 in their plates and people would do crazy things to have this number repeated in their mobile contact.

And here comes the other amazing aspect of Chinese people: they can make money also out of their own superstitions and here we have the man of the numbers: he simply sells mobile telephone numbers and the luckier the number is the more expensive it is: simple as that, and it works!
