A perfect evening

~backblip~

This morning we got up early to take the bus to the ancient archeological site of Knossos. About 70 people had signed up and paid for the trip, but after all the festivities of the conference dinner last night only about half that number made it out of bed! Knossos is a Minoan palace, built around 2000BCE. It was quite interesting, and a lovely day for wandering around the ruins, sunny but not too hot.

This evening at dinner I noticed this amazing sunset through the window. I quickly ran up to the terrace above the restaurant but by the time I got there the sun had already started to go behind the low clouds. I hope to have another chance to try to catch it tomorrow.

After dinner and a poster presentation session, a group of us from all over Europe, the Americas and Australia walked to the nearest village to visit a taverna. We had lots of traditional food and seemingly endless supplies of Raki, the local firewater-type drink. On the way home we lay on the beach for a while and looked at the stars, a perfect end to a great evening :)
