Floored

Adam was stunned by three things, all happening in such quick succession as to be almost simultaneous.

The first thing was how disorienting it is to find your world view going from the vertical to the horizontal in no seconds flat.

The second was a hand over his mouth and a voice saying, "stay still and don't struggle. When I take my hand away I don't want any screaming, OK? We don't want to attract any attention now, do we."

The third, and perhaps most surprising, was the realisation that while the hands on him were overwhelmingly powerful, the voice sounded like that of a little old lady.

His ears weren't mistaken.

It was one of the woman from earlier, as he confirmed by looking up when she relaxed her grip. He could also see her companion over her shoulder, saying "honestly, Margaret. You don't know your own bloody strength sometimes."
