Dodoh!

These birds, depicting ostriches from the Peckham family crest, sit atop the gateposts to Pallant House, Chichester which dates from the early 1700's. Unfortunately their somewhat gauche appearance gave rise to the nickname 'The Dodo House'.

Three centuries on they seem to me to disapprove of the modern extension to the Pallant House Gallery that you see in this blip. A sentiment not entirely extinct amongst the good citizens of Chichester.
