House of Seven Gables

The House of Seven Gables museum is located on right on the banks of Salem Harbor. It was named after Nathaniel Hawthorne book ?House of Gables?. The museum consist of The Retire Becket House (1655); The Hooper Hathaway House (1682); Nathaniel Hawthorne?s Birthplace (c1750); the Phippen House (c1782); and the Counting House (c 1830). Turner-Ingersoll Mansion, you will discover a mysterious secret staircase where you least expect it! Built in 1668, this is the oldest surviving 17th century wooden mansion in New England
