IS THE EMPEROR FIDDLING WHILE ROME BURNS?

Last night history was created in the UK as the Prime Minister - Gordon Brown - and the leaders of our two key opposition parties, took part in a 90 minute televised debate, before a studio audience who were not allowed to applaud or raise questions!

Yes, only in the UK !!

The point is all three 'leaders' said their piece to well rehearsed briefs and the outcome was verging on bland farce ..... no real human face or emotion just the usual tight 'Brit' reserve.

Today in many rural areas of the UK petrol (or gasoline) is way in excess of £1.20/ litre which equates to £5.46 a gallon or approx $8.40 / US gallon

Of course this observation is a cheap hit - no inverse pun intended - however the debate last night also happened to coincide with fuel soaring to it's highest price yet ... but was it referred to or contextualized ........ ?

Sometimes diplomacy and political correctness can be in danger of consuming itself!
