Day 2 - Birthday

Today was day 3 of our tramp on the Abel Tasman track. The Mission: Bark Bay to Anchorage - 9km. And Adams birthday!

We woke to a fantastically fine morning which was good news, and Adams 8th birthday. After simply the worst night's sleep, I rose a little late, and wandered down to the beach to find the family writing birthday wishes in the sand for Adam. Coffee in hand I delivered his birthday card, then we wandered back for pancakes. Yes, pancakes on our tramp - complete with maple syrup! The guides sang a happy birthday to Adam - he was pretty chuffed.

The guides left at 9, but we had a leisurely morning and at 10.30 started off for Anchorage. Despite being only 9 km today it was surpassingly hard, no doubt due to chronic tiredness due to the snoring monster last night.

Anyway, we made it over the hill, passed the guides at Torrent bay, and then made it to Anchorage a good hour before them at 2pm. Great going from our kids - real troopers ;-)

Being the first the hut and being only 24 beds, it was just us and the guides for the night, so we tactically choose beds. Top bunks, away for the probable snorer were we're going to share with. It worked, but then she also snored less than god!

Then down to the beach and lots of sand castle building and fun, Lovely birthday afternoon.

Back to the hut and dinner, and a birthday cake, Yes, Mrs PS carried a cake all the way and we had the official birthday. Adam was mightily impressed. Brilliant.
