Looks Good To Me

Earth Day

C and her son, W, celebrated Earth Day by finishing the weeding of the front yard -- no small task!

I went to take photos of a weeding and mulching project next to Whatcom Creek, at Maritime Heritage Park downtown. It's the place where the Elephant Bed artwork met its demise at the hands, or hoses, of the Bellingham Fire Department.

About 120 people, including a large contingent of students from Western Washington University, spent the morning digging up blackberry plants and other weeds, and spreading mulch. The on-again, off-again rain didn't seem to dampen their enthusiasm. I, on the other hand, got frustrated by constantly having to replace my camera in its bag. A weatherproof camera would have been nice.
