Ex ter min ate!

A bit of a double-take today when driving past the Tholsol in West St, Drogheda. I thought at first that the bank was promoting some new investment vehicle to help with the recession and had enrolled the Daleks in their marketing campaign!
On closer inspection, the building is no longer occupied by the Bank Of Ireland, but access has been given to allow some pieces of artwork to be displayed in this and other unoccupied buildings in Drogheda. Great idea!
It's the second part of the NeXus Arts Project (www.nexusarts.eu). The poster on the left reads: "We have been sent to exterminate this recession."
The Tholsel itself was built in 1770 of limestone. It replaced an earlier mediaeval structure and was the centre of municipal government in the area until 1889 when the corporation moved it's offices to the newly built courthouse in Fair St. A popular meeting place for generations of Drogheda people, the large four sided clock was the guide by which many watches were set.
