Pitcher plant

Taken today at Bukit shahbandar..
Bukit means Hill in malay!
there are 11 hills on this walk..
we do 10.. cos one of them is just nasty so we avoid it..

This Plant likes animals..
the inner part of the plant is filled with water...
and when the ant (or small bug) walks around the rim of the plant, under the lid..
the plant is sticky, and the bug slides in and hey presto.. drowns..

(my other halfs just informed me that they arent always slippery.. so the bugs go back and tell their mates.. and then.. wow.. its a feast for the plant.. and BIG pitchers can hold approx 3 litres of water!!) these ones here are about 6inches tall and hold about 500ml!
