Goldfinches at the niger seed feeder

I have feeders in the front and back gardens and as my living room has windows front and back, I can sit and watch them at both. This one is just a couple of feet from the window, so with my zoom lens I can photograph the birds from my armchair.

A friend who visited recently commented on the number of birds in my garden. Since then, he's got a niger seed feeder and has been delighted to see goldfinches in his garden. He lives in a village near Ipswich. Another friend, who lives in the town, tried niger seeds but hasn't seen any goldfinches.
