Pin Oak

Quercus palustris

Last week I blipped my pin oak tree as it turned to autumn colours. It is now almost fully coloured, and although the top is looking a bit thin, there are plenty of leaves on it yet. Strangely, it doesn't have the same colours on all sides. The side that gets the most sun has turned mostly a rusty red. On the opposite side the leaves turn orange and yellow and drop quickly. The side that would get sun if other trees didn't shade it is very slow to turn. The leaves are dark green and dark red. This is my favourite side.

Try the large view.

I can't understand it when people say they don't like a particular colour. How on earth can you not like a colour?
