Welsh Castle No.3 Beaumaris

We've had a great day, taking my sister-in-law around the area, first visiting Caernarfon and then on to Anglesey, as she goes home to the North East on Thursday.
Begun in 1295 Beaumaris Castle is the most technically perfect medieval castle in Britain. It was the last link in the chain of fortresses built by King Edward1.
Visually less impressive than others because it fails to dominate its surroundings, it is squat in appearance because it was never completed. Higher turrets etc. were never added, resulting in a low-level building.
