The Lozarithm Lens

Calne

Although I chose this house frontage purely for its textures and colour, it actually has a blue plaque to say it is where Jan Ingenhousz lived. He died nearby at Bowood House on 7 September 1799. He was a biologist, chemist and physiologist from the Netherlands, probably best remembered now for having discovered photosynthesis. The building is adjacent to St Mary's in Church Street, Calne.
