Art on the street

London is awash with designer model elephants.

The glass fibre models are painted or decorated by artists or celebrities such as Sir Paul Smith, Marc Quinn and Diane Von Furstenberg. Following an airing on the street, these model elephants will be auctioned at Sotheby's in July this year to raise money for Asian elephant conservation.

I was fascinated by this model in Carnaby street today, and only learned about the fund-raisng behind this public art initiative later on when sitting on the train reading the now free London newspaper - Evening Standard.

Sounds like a good cause. Hope they meet the target of £2 million.
